January 17th – 21st, 2019 – Miranda / Thames / Coromandel
Three full days of exploring the Firth of Thames/Coromandel Region, from the Miranda Shorebird centre, to Kuaotunu and Whangapoua Beach where the New Zealand Dotterels nest each year. Enjoy a relaxed photography focused weekend staying at Kereta B&B.
Kereta B&B is situated between Thames and Coromandel. Just 30 minutes drive from Thames on the edge of the beach where both Oyster Catchers and New Zealand Dotterels nest, Kingfishers can be both seen and heard from the accommodation, along with many other shore birds. If you are lucky (as I was last time I stayed there), you can see dolphins come right up close to the beach as they move through the Firth of Thames.
Breakfast and dinner meals will be catered (lunches at own cost), accommodation is shared rooms. For the adventurous there are two kayaks and one stand up paddle board available for use while at the accommodation. The beach is also ideal for swimming.
Cost per person is $390.00 (inc GST) 25% non-refundable deposit required to secure booking, balance due two weeks before the tour.
Numbers are limited to five only, so book early to secure your place.
Go-Kiwi Shuttles travel between Auckland Airport and Coromandel and back once a day. They are able to drop you at the gate of Kereta B&B. You need to book via email or phone to request drop off at Kereta and get the correct quote. Group bookings can be negotiated at a discounted price.
