An intruder in the yard…
There has been a lot in the news recently about cats and how they harm our native birds. We don’t have a cat for that very reason. I have nothing against them, in fact I really like cats, but not when they are attacking the birds. Lately there has been a little grey tortoiseshell cat hanging around our property and whenever I chase it off, it dashes under the house. I am hoping it hasn’t set up home under there because the last thing we need is a family of kittens under the house.
I saw the cat sitting on the bench seat near the bird feeders today so I know it has been targeting the birds. Waxeyes are very quick little birds but cats are hunters and they do catch birds. I have already seen one waxeye with a chunk of feathers missing. I have to assume it was lucky enough to get away and avoid being dinner of the day. I think it might be time to get the water pistol out again and have it ready and waiting.
Great shots as usual, love the starling. Their speckled plumage is spectacular, Well caught
