Following on from my last post on the Birds of Auckland Zoo, these are a few of the animals we saw while we were there. The Auckland Zoo is large and I never manage to get around the whole park in one visit. If we had stayed any longer we would be dealing with heat stroke, it was so hot there.

Our first stop was to see the ring-tailed lemurs. We learned something about these cute little animals that I would never have guessed. I won’t go into it but the next image is the lemur enjoying a feast of… yuck! I guess it keeps the enclosure clean.

From the lemurs, we headed to the tiger enclosure. This is only the second time I have explored the new tiger enclosure as I don’t get to the Auckland Zoo very often. This time at least we saw a tiger, however it was right up the back and hidden behind a bush so photographing it was out of the question.

From there we made our way to the orangutans. Visiting the animals of the Auckland Zoo on a Saturday is not ideal for photography. There was so many people there and the orangutans were popular with the children because of the youngster in their troop.

Photographing anything through grubby windows is difficult, but these Cunningham’s skinks were super difficult. The camera wanted to focus on the glass and not the skinks, so even though I never enjoy using manual focus, I had to for this image. I love the large and small skink’s connection.

My last image for today is the baboons. I enjoyed watching them preening and again the connection between the two really drew me to focus on them entirely. Other than the birds that you have seen in my last post, this is the only animals of Auckland Zoo that managed to photograph. Next visit will need to be on a quiet day when everyone else is either at work or school. Any feedback or comments are welcomed here.
