We have another tree flowering in our garden. This one is down the side of the house and not easy to access however the light was perfect for about 30 minutes this afternoon so I grabbed the camera and headed outside. This set of images is focused on the common wasp and how beautiful it looks when it is back lit by the sunshine.

Knowing the light wasn’t going to last, I wanted to make the most of playing with soft bokeh backgrounds while still highlighting the details in the wasp’s body. I am not overly keen on wasps but this set of images has me totally appreciating their colours and cute hairy bodies.

Always wanting to learn different techniques and processing tricks, I started a short course this week. It has allowed me to look at the natural light that I had while photographing the wasps and understand how to use it to my advantage.

I hope you have enjoyed this set of images. They are a little different to my norm and I think they are pretty cool! The birds are starting to come back to the garden too, so hopefully we will be off bees and wasps and back to the birds before too long. Let me know what you think of the back lighting and new processing techniques here.
