During our stay in Kruger National Park while based at Kambaku River Lodge, we enjoyed safari drives filled with incredible birdlife. After recent rains, the fine weather brought many birds out into the open, giving us wonderful opportunities for photography and observation.

The recent rains had transformed the landscape into lush green scenery, attracting a variety of species to the waterways and open plains. For bird lovers and photographers alike, Kruger National Park offers endless opportunities to capture unique wildlife moments.

- White-backed Vulture
- Brown-headed Parrot
- Lilac-breasted Roller

Highlights of the Bird Sightings
One of the standout sightings was the vibrant Lilac-breasted Roller, often considered one of Africa’s most beautiful birds. Its brilliant colours stood out perfectly against the green bushveld after the rains.

The kingfishers were also a highlight, especially the Giant Kingfisher and Pied Kingfisher, both often found near water sources searching for prey. Watching a Saddle-billed Stork moving gracefully through the wetlands was another memorable moment.

The Bateleur eagle sightings were particularly special. Seeing both an adult and juvenile Bateleur provided a rare chance to compare their different plumage and markings.
