We had family staying over the weekend and after lunch on Saturday we all went for a walk in the local bush. Of course the camera came along – I was looking for fungi. I found a couple and I might post them tomorrow but for today it is all about the fantails. It’s been a couple of years since I have wandered in this bush but the last time I was there one fantail posed beautifully for me and I didn’t see another bird. Heard lots but they were always way up in the canopy of the trees. Yesterday the same thing happened again.
This one fantail bounced around us for about 5 minutes and then he was gone. I won’t tell you how many shots I took but suffice to say I got plenty! He got a bit too close at one point and the lens just couldn’t cope. I ended up with a great shot of the bird’s face and only half of it’s tail. I am going back as soon as I get the chance in the hope that this accommodating little bird will perform for me again. I want to try some different settings to see if I can get better results. The main problem being that the bush is very dark and I don’t want to use flash. It’s a challenge but I am up for it 🙂
