Today was meant to be a gardening day. We were out in the garden because we have two new trees to plant, but there is quite a bit of clearing up to do before we can actually get them into the ground. Hopefully, we will get them planted tomorrow.
In the meantime, I got completely distracted by the bees and other bugs that had already discovered the fragrant flowers on the new plants.
Photographing Flowers With My Phone
My camera was inside, but today wasn’t really a day for getting the camera out, so I decided to leave it where it was. Instead, I picked up my phone to see what I could capture.
I was genuinely surprised by the quality of the images I was able to achieve, especially with my shaky hands. Sometimes, you don’t need all your photography equipment to capture something worth photographing. A phone can be surprisingly capable when the right subject comes along. And today, the subject was the garden.
Bees, Bugs and Fragrant Flowers
The flowers in these images are from our fragrant pink camellia tree. The flowers had already attracted bees and other small insects, which made them impossible to ignore.
I love discovering these little moments in the garden. A plant that attracts pollinators is interesting enough on its own. When it also has beautiful, fragrant flowers, it creates even more opportunities for garden photography. The bees certainly seemed to approve of our new camellia!
Looking Forward to More Garden Photography
I’m hoping the fragrant pink camellia will add plenty of photographic opportunities to the garden once it has been planted. If today is anything to go by, I don’t think I will be disappointed. For now, the tree is still waiting to be planted. I’m already looking forward to seeing which bees, bugs and other garden visitors discover it next.
