This post is a continuation of our visit to Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Cafe. I felt that the kea deserved a post of their own, however these image also deserve to be seen.
White Swans
My first images of the visit are of the beautiful white swan busy preening on the lawn. The white swans have always been a favourite to photograph, and a challenge too. White birds can make it difficult to capture all the feather detail correctly.
Ring Neck Parakeet
In the Toetoe aviary I photographed the blue ring neck parakeets. I love the soft colours of these birds and with their feathers all fluffed up when preening, they make for a great image. Sadly I don’t have a cockatoo image to show you because last week someone stole Pepper the cockatoo from the Toetoe aviary. Every effort is being made to find her, but she is still missing at the time of posting.
Peacock
Peacocks always make a great image with their stunning vibrant colours. I like that the pose on this one is a little different to the fully spread tail that we normally see in a photograph. I have more images to process from our visit to Staglands and will post them on social media if you want to see them.
Kunekune piglets
Kunekune pigs are ugly, but their piglets are just way too cute! These ones have been very quick to learn that people usually have food and as soon as they saw us, they came running. Thankfully I was able to capture this tiny piglet coming straight at me. I hope you have enjoyed these images from our visit to Staglands. Let me know if you do, you can contact me here.
