Another week and the weather was pretty nasty. We had lots of wind and rain that kept me inside more than out. Thankfully the silvereyes were still visiting the garden and were rocking the wet feather look!
Some of the red hot pokers are so close to my window that my lens is a little on the large size. What I like to do then is change up my settings and get in close. On the image above I had the aperture wide open and my focus was on the eye of the bird. The wet feathers remind me of a slicked back 1960’s rock and roll hair do.
I was super excited to get this image with the two silvereyes on the same stalk. There really isn’t enough room for two of them to drink the nectar at the same time, so of course these two were squabbling over it.
Another silvereye rocking the wet feather look. I do wonder if they get cold when they are so wet, but they never seem to stop moving so perhaps they keep warm with movement. Thank you for all the feedback you have all been giving me, it is appreciated and I hope you have enjoyed this set of images too. My next blog post will be about yesterday’s visit to the Wellington Zoo.
