Last Saturday we paid a short visit to Wellington Zoo. Someone forgot to let the animals know we were coming because most of them were just lying soaking up the Spring sunshine. The tiger was hiding up the back of his enclosure in the shade of the bamboo. We chose not to wait until the keeper talk because it can be problematical trying to get good images without the cages walls in the way at that time. So there are no tigers images in this post.
The farmyard animals were very keen to see us. They wanted us to open their gates and let them out but that wasn’t going to happen. One of the sheep was very vocal about the whole situation, and the rooster looked on in disgust.
Sasa the sun bear took time out from soaking up the Spring sunshine to grace us with her presence for a little while. I really enjoy getting close-up images of the animals as you probably know if you follow my blog. Look at the detail in Sasha’s nose, and her gorgeous glassy blue eyes.
The highlight of the morning for me were the chimps. Yes they were out in the sun but it was like they were having a meeting. There was some serious discussions taking place and of course one of them thought the entire scenario was hilarious. Sally and Akida were having some quiet time on their own. The light was getting a little harsh when I was with the chimps, hence the black and white treatment. Enjoy!
