The fernbirds live in and around the wetlands and are often hidden in the bushes alongside a track I walk often. They are about the size of a sparrow and are often heard but not seen.
This morning we headed into Karori, Wellington, to visit Zealandia Ecosanctuary. There have been many reports of a rifleman family that is fairly easy to find, so with that as our focus we started walking into the valley.
