Tui Photography During Kowhai Season

It is still kowhai season in New Zealand, and the tui are enjoying the flowers. They have yet to discover the kowhai tree in my garden. It has finally started flowering, so today we headed out to photograph some tui.

Although it was lightly raining, we found plenty of tui high in the trees. Photographing birds in these conditions can be challenging. Especially when the light is difficult and the birds are far above you. With a few adjustments to my camera settings, I was able to capture these images despite the lack of sunshine.

I’ll keep this post short because the tui photographs are the real stars. Enjoy! All the images in this post were taken using my Lumix G9II using my Leica 100-400mm lens. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to contact me through my website, or follow along on Facebook or Instagram.
