Black-fronted dotterel

Last Sunday a fellow photographer and myself headed out with our cameras. Our wanderings took us to Waikanae where we found something very special.  At the time we didn’t realise just how special because I initially identified it wrongly.  Regardless we took as many images as we could and thanks to a local photographer we managed to get a little closer to it.  Black-fronted dotterels are not common and from what I have read, there are fewer than 3000 at present.  These images are large crops but I am still very happy to add the black-fronted dotterel to my list of birds photographed.
