The fernbirds live in and around the wetlands and are often hidden in the bushes alongside a track I often walk. They are about the size of a sparrow and are often heard but not seen. This morning I was out with another photographer friend who had an excellent ear for the fernbird calls which this made it easy for us to find them. These images are another first for me, I have never photographed a fernbird before. I am excited to be able to share these images with you and to add them to my collection of New Zealand birds.
