Melbourne Zoo Butterfly House

I was very excited when I found a butterfly house at the Melbourne Zoo. They had so many butterflies there that I would have happily stayed there all day. Sadly we were there during the school holidays and it was very crowded with children, parents and pushchairs. I did go through twice, but there was a flow of traffic that I got caught up in, and standing in the front with a camera while there are small children behind you, is frowned upon.

If I am ever in Melbourne when it is neither a weekend or a school holiday, then I will be back in the butterfly house. The photographic opportunities there were just amazing. The camera coped really well with the humidity and heat but my glasses kept fogging up. I will need to spray them with anti-fog next time for sure.

When selecting the butterflies to photograph, I purposely looked at their background to see if I could isolate them easily. I like my butterfly images to be clean and not too busy. Using my birding lens for butterflies allows me to get up close to them from a distance, which is awesome!

I hope you enjoy viewing this set of images from my Oz adventure. There are still lots more to come as I work my way through them all.
