We went to two different locations looking for dabchicks with young, and today’s images are from the second location where the chick was a little bit older. Not having any competition for it’s parent’s attention (or room on Mum’s back) this youngster was very active.
It was jumping on and off Mum’s back constantly like it was a bit of a game and from time to time even falling off backwards.
I could have sat there for hours watching and photographing the play but there are only so many images you can fit on one card and I didn’t want them all to be the same so I reluctantly left this family and went looking for other opportunities.
Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot happening anywhere else. I did get one dabchick catching and eating a rather large frog but it was so far away I couldn’t get a good image out of it. Maybe next time.
Tomorrow I have a different family to introduce to you back from location number one.
