hihi

Hihi feeding time

This weekend past I ran a bird photography workshop on behalf of the PSNZ Workshop Series.  The photo shoot associated with the workshop was held at Bushy Park in Whanganui.  This is a small piece of paradise where the birds are protected by a predator proof fence and where hihi and tieke are easy to find.  The whole park is a chorus of bird song! The workshop ended on Saturday so I headed back to the park on Sunday to do some of my own photography.  In the short time I was there I witnessed a hihi fledgling being fed.  This was a first for me, and I had the camera clicking away at full speed!  The birds were quite high up, so the angle isn’t the best but I managed to record the event and to me that is an achievement.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
