Last Friday I travelled to Kuaotunu Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula for my cousin’s wedding.
It was a beautiful wedding on the reserve next to the beach and it was a great time catching up with family that I haven’t seen in many years along with celebrating the wedding.
Of course I took my birding lens with me on the trip and was very surprised to see a roped off area on the sand not more than a few metres away from where the wedding was. It was to protect a NZ Dotterel family with newly hatched chicks.
I was strong and resisted photographing them until the next day. After that I found some more roped off areas with older chicks but they will be another post.
I hope you don’t overdose on cuteness with these images.
