The new lens…

Today was the first real opportunity I have had to take out the new lens and try it out with the kingfishers.  It has been a real learning curve and one that has shown me that I need to change my kit a bit to accommodate the weight of the lens.

Using the ball head on the monopod really didn’t work due to the weight and trying to keep it steady even with the stabilisation wasn’t easy unless I braced the monopod against my chair.

So a small rethink is in progress and some shopping will be required.  Having said all that I am really pleased with the performance of the lens.  Pair it up with the focusing system on the Canon 7D MKII and it is just magic.

Todays images are by far the best I have to date of landings and take-offs. I am very happy with the results.  Am I happy I purchased the Sigma 150-600S ?  That would be a very big yes!  It can only get better from here on in 🙂
