One of the workshops I attended at the Convention was the Canon Horse & Rider workshop. The good folk from Canon had all their gear there for us to try out and they challenged us to think differently when taking our images.
For me it was different enough in that horses are not birds, but I did try to get a few quirky shots instead of the usual horse portraits.
I also made a deliberate choice to stick with my smaller lens because it doesn’t seem to get used that often any more.
The venue for the workshop was a racing stable at the Tauranga racetrack and the staff welcomed us into their space for the duration of the workshop.
We learnt a lot about canon lenses and race horses, and met some really interesting people. It was challenging but it was also a whole lot of fun!
