Stick Insects & Cicadas

blog-IMG_7388The menu changed a little today with less skinks and more variety.  The chicks were fed a skink just as I arrived at the nest site but after that it was cicadas and a stick insect that I saw flown in. blog-IMG_7289The stick insect provided some issues for the kingfisher and it took two tries to actually get it into the nest. I suspect it was still alive and clinging to the doorway. blog-IMG_7322Regardless its fight was futile and it did become a meal for the chicks.  blog-IMG_7290I am looking for the next challenge now 🙂blog-IMG_7333

  1. Is the next challenge taking photos of the kingfisher fledglings?

The cream/yellow of the kingfishers breast and abdo are great to see in your photos. They flash past so quickly to my naked eye.
