I have been watching the weather all week in the hope of getting out with my camera today. After checking the tides and the weather report I made plans to meet up with a fellow photographer to visit the kingfishers. That plan soon changed when some council workers turned up with a concrete truck wanting to pour concrete under the tree we were hoping the kingfishers would be in. Move to plan B.
So we went for a walk around the Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve and had some fun with some Grey Warblers and Fantails. Both of these birds are flitters and never seem to sit still long enough to be able to focus on them. The light in the bush wasn’t the best either so my camera was pushed to the limits I am comfortable working with to get fast enough speeds.I fired off about 400 shots, two thirds of which were immediately culled on arriving home. Of what’s left there is probably still half to cull out again but then I will be left with a selection of images I am very happy with. Definitely worth making the effort to go out.
