Back at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne Ecosanctuary
On my last visit to the sanctuary I was seeking the titipounamu to photograph, and while I did find them, I didn’t achieve any useful images. Today I had the same focus.

Another month has passed without my posting very much on my blog, but this time there is a very special reason. I was busy playing with a new toy!
On our return we found a noisy kākā youngster demanding to be fed. Its squarking didn’t do any good, other than to scare off any of the other kākā around it.
A few years ago I heard about a special kākā at Zealandia. Named Pinky-B by her monitors, she had different colouring to the rest of the kākā in the valley with the exception of her daughter who also sported the pretty pinky red feathers.
Kaka are the clowns of the forest and today I saw why. They don’t care if they are upright or upside down, as they move through the tree tops.

This morning we headed into Karori, Wellington, to visit Zealandia Ecosanctuary. There have been many reports of a rifleman family that is fairly easy to find, so with that as our focus we started walking into the valley.
It’s Friday again and as usual, the day is devoted to the camera and getting out into Nature. Our destination this week was Ngā Manu Nature Reserve in Waikanae.
