Another kākā colour morph
On our return we found a noisy kākā youngster demanding to be fed. Its squarking didn’t do any good, other than to scare off any of the other kākā around it.

A few years ago I heard about a special kākā at Zealandia. Named Pinky-B by her monitors, she had different colouring to the rest of the kākā in the valley with the exception of her daughter who also sported the pretty pinky red feathers.
Kaka are the clowns of the forest and today I saw why. They don’t care if they are upright or upside down, as they move through the tree tops.
This morning we headed into Karori, Wellington, to visit Zealandia Ecosanctuary. There have been many reports of a rifleman family that is fairly easy to find, so with that as our focus we started walking into the valley.
Usually we head to Zealandia on a Friday because there are less people about. Not today – there were groups of people everywhere! It’s great to see so many out enjoying the sunny weather in the valley. We went today with the goal of achieving some fantastic images and I believe I achieved my goal, …
