Recently Wellington Zoo welcomed two snow leopards from Melbourne Zoo. Of course this means we have been visiting the zoo!
On our return we found a noisy kākā youngster demanding to be fed. Its squarking didn’t do any good, other than to scare off any of the other kākā around it.
A few years ago I heard about a special kākā at Zealandia. Named Pinky-B by her monitors, she had different colouring to the rest of the kākā in the valley with the exception of her daughter who also sported the pretty pinky red feathers.
Yesterday I had a very exciting encounter with a ruru at Zealandia Ecosanctuary. I would never had seen this amazing bird had I not been in the right place at the right time.
